SAFIRE/A is an airborne far infrared Fourier transform spectrometer developed at CNR-IFAC, Florence. The instrument is aimed at the determination of stratospheric constituents and operates onboard of the M55-Geophysica Aircraft.

SAFIRE/A instrument APE-GAIA campaign PNRA project M55-Geophysica The SAFIRE/A instrument was flown in many international measurement campaigns, including the APE-GAIA (Airborne Platform for Earth-observation - Geophysica Aircraft In Antarctica) performed from Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego (Argentina), in 1999 and the ENVISAT validation campaigns, performed from midlatitudes (Forlė, Italy), and polar regions (Kiruna, Sweden) in 2002-2003.
